Directed by Jonathan Berry, The Caucasian Chalk Circle takes place amidst a city burning in the ravages of civil war, where an innocent girl sacrifices everything to protect a seemingly abandoned child. Once peace and order are restored, the child's biological mother returns to claim him. The fate of all three rests upon the ancient tradition of the chalk circle. Chock-full of vivid characters and with raucous, unforgettable live music, one of master storyteller Bertolt Brecht's greatest plays comes to life in an exciting new translation by award-winning playwright Alistair Beaton.
"Our telling of The Caucasian Chalk Circle will be a thrilling experience," explains director Jonathan Berry. "The audience will see a show created before their eyes with live music and versatile actors playing multiple roles and adding different aspects to the production."
The Caucasian Chalk Circle's artistic team includes director Jonathan Berry, scenic designer Chelsea Warren, lighting designer Heather Gilbert and costume designer Melanie Berner. The cast includes Joe Bette, Sean Bolger, Zeke Sulkes, Billy Fenderson, Yosh Hayashi, Jeremy Kahn, Pat King, Stephen Loch, Mallory Nees, Kristen Secrist, Rachel Slavik and Mira Vasiljevic.
