Capturing Chicago Theater: 35 Years of Theater Photography by Lisa Howe-Ebright

The Chicago Public Library presents Capturing Chicago Theater: 35 Years of Theater Photography by Lisa Howe-Ebright (1974-2009), a new exhibit highlighting the career of Chicago photographer Lisa Howe-Ebright. This exhibit features 35 years of Ms. Howe-Ebright's work with the Chicago theater community. It opens to the public on April 10, 2010, and continues through October 3, 2010, in the Special Collections Exhibit Hall, 9th Floor, of the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 South State Street

Ms. Howe-Ebright has been a perennial Chicago theater photographer capturing images for such companies as Steppenwolf, Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare and Northlight theaters among others. Her lens has documented Chicago's tradition of creating great theater and captured the theatrical genius and energy of numerous actors, many of whom have gone on to film and television, including John Malkovich , Joan Allen, Gary Sinise and Terry Kinney. She's portrayed director Mary Zimmerman as well as playwrights August Wilson and David Mamet. She initially donated her theater photographs to the Chicago Public Library's Chicago Theater Collection in 1994.

A graduate of Barat College, the socially conscious Ms. Howe-Ebright also worked for many years as a documentary and corporate events photographer. She is the owner of Lisa Howe-Ebright Photography in Forest Park, Illinois.
